Date Alert for our Titan 5-Day Surveillance Training Course
Titan Investigations Announces New Scheduling for 5-Day Surveillance Training Course
Welcome back to another episode of Titan PI TV — the YouTube channel that takes you behind the scenes of one of England’s most respected live operation investigation agencies. This week, host and Managing Director of Titan Private Investigation Limited, Simon Henson, brings an important scheduling announcement for anyone considering enrolling on Titan’s renowned 5-Day Surveillance Training Course. Whether you’re a prospective learner, a career changer, or simply curious about the world of professional surveillance, this episode is essential viewing.
“Happy Friday,” Simon opens with his characteristic warmth, greeting viewers on what he describes as a beautiful day. “This short episode is around date changes — it’s an alert for anyone who is a prospective learner or who wants to be a learner on our five-day surveillance course.”
A Smarter Way to Train: Only Three Days’ Annual Leave Required
The headline news from this episode is a significant and thoughtful change to how Titan’s 5-Day Surveillance Training Course is scheduled. Historically, the course has run from Monday to Friday — a format that, whilst effective, required learners in full-time employment to use a full five days of annual leave.
That is about to change.
For the September and November 2026 course dates, Titan is trialling a new Thursday-to-Monday format. Both the September and November courses will run from Thursday the 10th to Monday the 14th, meaning that two of the five training days fall on a Saturday and Sunday. The practical upshot? If you’re in full-time employment, you could potentially attend the entire five-day course using just three days of annual leave.
“We have been asked numerous times to run courses during the school holidays so people don’t have to use their annual leave or be away during term time,” Simon explains. “So we have now listened, and we have changed our courses.”
This is a trial arrangement for the September and November 2026 dates, and Simon notes it could work even more favourably for shift workers, whose rotas may align particularly well with the new Thursday-to-Monday structure. It’s a genuinely welcome development for anyone who has previously been put off by the logistical challenge of taking a full working week away from their job.
A Continued Commitment to Female Representation
Alongside the scheduling news, Simon reiterates an ongoing initiative that Titan introduced in a previous episode: a 10% discount for all female learners on any Titan training course.
The private investigation industry remains significantly male-dominated, yet women play a vital and often irreplaceable role in surveillance operations. Titan is actively working to address this imbalance, and the discount is a tangible expression of that commitment.
The standard course fee is £1,440 including VAT. For female learners, this reduces to £1,296 — a saving of £144 (or £120 plus VAT). “Absolute bargain for a five-day course,” Simon says, and it’s hard to disagree. For anyone wanting to understand more about why female investigators are so valuable to the industry, Simon recommends revisiting the dedicated episode on the subject, available on the Titan PI TV channel.
One Vacancy Remaining: May Course Filling Fast
Before diving into the course structure, Simon issues an urgent heads-up for those looking to train sooner rather than later. The next upcoming course runs from Monday 18th to Friday 22nd May — a traditional Monday-to-Friday format — and it is almost fully booked. With 11 learners already confirmed, there is just one vacancy remaining.
“If you want that vacancy, you really need to get in touch quickly,” Simon urges. “It’s not a reduced rate because that place will go.”

Inside the 5-Day Surveillance Training Course: What to Expect
For those unfamiliar with what Titan’s training actually involves, Simon takes the time to walk viewers through the course structure in detail — and it’s an impressive programme.
Each morning begins in the classroom or office, with a theory session lasting approximately two to three hours, depending on the pace of the group. This theoretical grounding is then taken outside and put into practice through what Simon describes as “muscle memory” — learning by doing, in real-world environments.
One of the most notable features of the course is the instructor-to-learner ratio of no more than 1:3. That level of individual attention is rare in vocational training and ensures that every learner receives meaningful, personalised feedback throughout the day. Debriefs take place both individually and as a group at the end of each session, with ongoing assessment woven throughout the entire five days — not just at the end.
Day One is the longest day, starting at 8:00am and finishing at approximately 6:00 or 7:00pm. The extended classroom time on the first day covers essential admin — registration, a short and straightforward English comprehension test (nothing to worry about, Simon reassures, even for those whose first language isn’t English), and signing the rules of the road for mobile surveillance. By the afternoon, learners are out on foot, covering seven to eight kilometres, practising radio use, handovers, ABC formation surveillance, and corner-clearing techniques. Simon’s guarantee? “By the end of day one, you will be performing foot surveillance proficiently — 100% guaranteed. Happens every course.”
Day Two builds on those foundations, stepping things up by introducing public transport surveillance. Learners follow a subject across two or three counties using taxis, buses, trains, and trams — four distinct forms of public transport. “Unfortunately we can’t do aeroplanes because the budget doesn’t go that far,” Simon quips.
Day Three marks a significant escalation: mobile surveillance. This is where learners follow a subject from a vehicle, dealing with the added complexity of real road speeds, traffic lights, and the challenge of providing a running commentary whilst driving. Titan eases learners into this by starting them in the passenger seat — getting comfortable with commentary before moving to the driver’s seat, or “the hot seat,” as Simon calls it. Loss procedures, vehicle handovers, and cover vehicle management all feature on day three.
Day Four is a consolidation day — returning to foot surveillance, public transport, and mobile surveillance to ensure nothing has been forgotten and all skills are sharp ahead of the final assessment.
Day Five is the moment everyone has been building towards: the final exercise. Delivered as close to a live operation as the training environment allows, learners receive their operational order — their briefing sheet — the night before, via a WhatsApp group, mirroring exactly how real-world assignments are communicated. “Everybody steps up a notch,” Simon says. “It’s amazing to see — they step up a notch and usually smash it.”
A Course Built Around Your Success
Titan’s philosophy is unambiguous: they want every learner to pass. The course is run in association with the Institute of Professional Investigators (IPI), and whilst it is a genuine pass/fail assessment rather than an attendance certificate, Titan goes to considerable lengths to support learners who need additional time.
If a learner struggles with a particular element — whether foot surveillance or mobile — they are invited back to sit in on the relevant portion of a future course at no additional charge. The only exception would be if a full course requires an additional vehicle or instructor, in which case costs are split fairly. In nine years of running the course since 2017, Simon notes that only a handful of learners have ever needed to return.
Upon successful completion, graduates are enrolled onto Titan’s Graduate Student Aftercare Programme, through which Titan actively provides work opportunities to help new investigators build their careers. Whether learners want to pursue investigation full-time or simply dip their toes into the industry on a flexible basis, the programme accommodates both.
